- How far along?: 11 weeks.
- Total weight gain: I'm not sure. Or I'm a liar.
- How big is baby?: Lime sized! I love citrus.
- Maternity clothes?: Not quite. I'm living in leggings or using the bella band with my jeans.
- Stretch marks?: None so far!
- Sleep?: I require a nap daily.
- Best moment this week?: Seeing people's reactions as we tell them. It's so fun and I can't wait until everyone knows!
- Movement?: Do gas bubbles count? Because I'm sure that's what that is at this point.
- Food cravings?: I need french onion dip.
- Gender? Changes daily! Well, not mine, but what it think he/she is!
- Labor signs?: No no no!
- Belly button in or out?: Innie.
- What I miss: Not feeling nauseated every evening.
- What I'm looking forward to: Seeing the little one next Thursday at the NT scan.
- Milestone: I bought my first couple pairs of maternity jeans over the weekend. Of course I had to have a couple pairs of my designer jeans.

November 20, 2009
I don't believe I've updated in a while! Well, today the lil one is finally a fetus! I'm 9 weeks! We had our first dr appt. on Monday and it was absolutely amazing. I was so nervous, afraid that there wouldn't be anything to see. Adam reassured me that there had to be something there since I'd been feeling so nauseated. And there was! We saw the little heartbeat going and both of us just melted. It was so cliche: there we were, holding hands and tearing up at the sight of our baby on the monitor. Until my ob realized she didn't have any paper in the printer, and instructed me to hold on to the dildo-cam while she went to get some. The image of what that sounds like, I imagine, is quite clear. At least we got to take home a pic of the lil bean/panda/turtle/can you tell we don't know what to nickname the waby?! There's time for that. I'm paralyzed in fear at the thought of naming my child, let alone nicknaming it for a couple months!
As far as how I've been feeling... blech! My nausea is mostly in the evenings, and while I have yet to actually vomit (I try my hardest not to), I constantly feel like I'm on the brink of it. Of course now I feel somewhat relieved when I feel it, knowing that it means my body's working hard to grow our little one. Oh and my boobs are out of control. Let's not even go there. I feel like I'm a walking giveaway that I'm knocked up, but hopefully no one suspects yet. I'm just not ready to tell everyone until 2nd tri, when I feel more relieved that things are going smoothly.
We're planning on telling the rest of the family at Thanksgiving (my parents, Adam's mom and brother know now) and we're so excited to do it.
Let's see as far as any other updates:
My next appointment is Dec. 10 for the NT scan (where they'll check for down syndrome and other genetic abnormalities). I'm trying not to think about the scary things involved with that, but rather the fact that I get to see LO again. My ob said the place that does it is an amazing u/s and they record it for you, so that's something to really look forward to.
I've already packed on about 5 pounds of pudge (half of that's got to be my boobs!) because I can't stop noshing throughout the day! I used to be a lunch and dinner kind of girl, but now I need 3 square meals and a few other snacks throughout the day.
I think I now have an aversion to poultry.
Oh and there's this little gem: The guy working the Burger King drive-thru made me cry last night. Not because he was an asshole. But because he gave us such great service and was so upbeat. Adam couldn't stop laughing at me, which in turn made me crack up, mid-tears. You just don't see such great service anymore, and the guy makes nothing an hour! OK OK, I guess I've been a tad emotional too.
I need to walk away from the comp monitor now to dry heave into the toilet. Ughhhhh.
Oh! And here's a glimpse of our little one...

Internet at last!
We moved on Halloween. AND today, November 13, we finally have ourselves some internet action in the house. I'm so thrilled I don't know what to do with myself. I thought in the very least I should pop in and say hello. More updates and fun things to come!!

Our new house
Yay it's official, we're moving! Into a house house. One that has more toilets in it than bedrooms! I've never had such luxury! I was so bummed that we missed out on that one house with the pee carpet. And the good Lord smiled down upon us and threw another house with beautiful 20 inch tile floors that don't smell of pee pee at us!!

Morning Sickness? Is that you?
Wednesday, October 28, 2009
5 weeks and 4 days today, and I think, we have the beginnings of morning sickness. Which of course is bittersweet, because on the one hand, there is an argument out there that says the sicker you are, the better your baby is doing. But on the other hand, I feel like shit!
I don't want to succumb to the stereotypical always sick pregnant chick thing, but I'm heading that way quick. And I'm afraid that being such a sissy this early on is a sign that I'm just going to implode later on, when it gets really bad.
What's wrong with me? I can do this. I mean I had fucking cancer for pete's sake. What's a little morning sickness?

Housing
Well apparently, people want money in life. And they scoff when you offer them less than what they're asking, particularly if it's quite a bit less.
Yeah, we're moving again. This home simply will not do for us any longer, for various reasons. We found the perfect house. It was splendid. It went to someone else.
So after weeks of searching we found another perfect house. Perhaps more perfect than the last. It was but 4 years old. It had beautiful arches throughout. It was in a gated community. Ok, well it had carpet that smelled distinctly of dog urine. But I was fairly certain we could remedy that with a Rug Doctor and a few hours of (Adam's) elbow grease. So we offered a bit less than the asking rental price. Like a couple hundred dollars less. And they said no. And gave it to someone else! MY HOUSE they give away to someone else.
Whatever, the carpet smelled. But I'm majorly bummed because I want to find something already. The place we live in now gets awfully cold at night. And I just can't bear another Southern California winter in this icebox. ;-)

We had broccoli.
Tuesday, October 20, 2009
And it wasn't so bad! I mean it wasn't anything amazing, but mixed with cheese and rice, the broccoli goes down no problem. :-)
I got my second beta back today. The first one was Friday (13dpo) - 101. Monday (16dpo) was 461! I'm thinking those are great numbers.
No nausea yet, knock on all wood in the house, but I know it's still early. Boobs feel a little heavy and dense. We'll see what fun symptoms I get in the weeks to come! :-D

How I told him.
October 17, 2009
So I woke up the morning of October 14th and took a pregnancy test. I felt like I saw the slightest of somethings, but also thought I may be delusional. I hadn't missed a period yet or anything, but I knew I was pregnant. I just knew. I had that feeling. I had a voracious appetite (more so than my usual hearty one), my sense of smell was superhuman, and damnit, I just knew. That evening I decided to test again on a whim, and this time, that second pink line came right up. I couldn't contain my excitement, so I just started jumping up and down squealing. I couldn't believe it was true!
As much as I "knew" before, I hadn't planned out how exactly I would tell the hubby. I always wanted to do something clever and magical. But it was 7:45 and he was going to be home in about half an hour. I quickly decided to go with the "bun in the oven" approach. I'd heard about it before, and thought it could be cute (plus cinnamon buns sounded delish). The plan was to go as follows: Adam comes home from work, takes a whiff of the intoxicating aroma of deliciousness baking in the oven, and says, "what's that, darling?" To which I knowingly smile and gently touch my hand to my belly and say, "I have a bun in the oven." Afterwards he would proceed to lifting me in the air and showering me with affection, with misty eyes and an assured sense of pride.
Here's how it really went down:
I was so flustered to get to the store and back home in time, I kept fumbling through the supermarket, trying to find the pregnancy tests (so I could take a fancy digital one as well). I finally gave up on that and waited in quite possibly the longest line at the grocery store. The man in front of me was buying 6 bottles of wine and two tv dinners. I naturally assumed he was an alcoholic and wanted to club him over the head when he took over a minute to find his stupid credit card. I race home and throw the buns in the oven, not wasting time to preheat (so I compensated by setting the oven to 475 degrees). Hubbs comes home a mere 5 minutes later and I'm sweating like a hog.
"Hi honey, what's up?"
"Darling, I have a bun in the oven."
"Huh?"
"Bun. In the oven."
"I don't get it. How come you're all sweaty?"
"Because it's freaking hot. Honey, I have a BUN in the OVEN..." (nods toward stomach)
"What do you mean?"
"You've never heard that freaking expression?! I'm pregnant!"
"Shut up."
(grabs test and shoves in husband's face) "See!"
"I see something! Are you serious?"
(eyes well up with tears and saying the following indignantly)"Of course I'm serious!"
(finally getting it and begins to tear up) "Really?!"
(blubbering at this point) "YES!"
"Oh my god, we're having a baby! Really???"
*both embrace and stand in shock at the revelation, kissing occasionally and crying*
AND I burned my buns.
So it wasn't the perfect reveal, but I love it much more this way. ;-)
We ran out to Target to buy the fancy digitals and a few other tests just to confirm, and they came up positive when I tested the next morning.
We're so incredibly excited and feel so blessed.

Silly Adam...

We've only known about you for a couple days now and yet it feels like a lifetime. I love to sit and think about what you will look like, what your personality will be like, what your laugh will sound like. I want to show you all the things I've seen, and see the look on your face when you experience them for the first time. I want to give you more than I ever had. I want you to be able to dream and do and become anything you could possibly conceive. I want the world for you, and I've only known you for 3 days.
Sure when I found out I was a little freaked out. I mean, it's the ultimate responsibility: take care of a human for the rest of your life. The minute that second little pink line came up, I just got the biggest grin on my face and jumped up and down for about 10 minutes. I couldn't believe it. We were going to be parents. Words can't begin to describe the emotion I felt, and I can only imagine that emotion exploding when I finally get to see/hear your heartbeat, or feel your kicks, or see your face for the first time.
I promise to do everything I can to take the best care of us, not only these next 9 months, but the rest of my life. I will even try to eat broccoli. That's huge. I promise to love you unconditionally, and listen to you, and adore you. I'm sure years down the line I will embarrass you. I apologize in advance for this.
I want you to be healthy, to grow strong, and to be happy. It's a tall order that I believe in my heart you can fill. We love you so much baby, and we are waiting to meet you.

Sometimes you need a little moist-ness.
Oh dear. Well tonight as I was moisturizing my legs, and Adam was playing Madden '10, I made the following remark:
"Wow, this lotion's the best I've ever used."
And Adam gasped. Ok, maybe that's an exaggeration, but it is quite the statement for me to make. I mean, I love my beauty products. I'm constantly on the quest for better, prettier, more efficient products. And I have to say, I strongly recommend Dove's Cream Oil. I enjoy its light scent, and just how easily it blends into the skin (I just hate it when lotion just keeps spreading around in its white schloppy consistency).
You may want to check it out.
