The Happiest Place on Earth

Yesterday I went to the happiest place on Earth. To celebrate my birthday. And I was indeed, the happiest girl on Earth.

That was just a taste of the fun that was had yesterday. I am now in full-on post-birthday depression mode (doesn't everyone get this for a couple days after their birthday?). I need an excuse to devour more of my leftover red velvet cake. There is no good excuse.

We pigged out like it was 1999. And since it was my birthday I got a special button that announced my specialness to all that were around me. And I think I saw about 1325 other people who shared my birthday! Everyone there kept wishing me a happy birthday. And Mr. Lexi overcame his giant fear of Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain (note the victorious macho pic). In fact, he actually liked them. And if I can get his sweet ass to scan a photo for me you can see the delirious fun he's having going down Splash Mountain. Stay tuned kids!

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7daysThird picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use Photoshop or something similar to put it all together.

Lexi's 10 Commandments

I've got my eye on a few key pieces of clothing for the upcoming warmer months. It's definitely hot today in L.A. and it's got me thinking of summertime...

1. Abercrombie Greta Shorts, $60
I like that they're not the typical butthangingoutoftheshorts length, yet they're still young and fun. I may be a bit old for Abercrombie. Then again, maybe not!

2. Michael Kors Trellis Cork Wedge Sandal, $425
I'm loving their height and the fact that the wedge doesn't fully connect- makes them a bit different. Yet Beckham says you should never have a strap around the ankle, it breaks up the leg and makes it fat. And $425 clams is steep for MK. I'd hold out on these. But this is what I'm looking for - a nude-tanish sandal.

3. True Religion Bobby Jeans, $240
I love me a pair of True Religions, ever since my first pair 4+ years ago. I saw these on sale around X-mas time and didn't snap them up, and now, regretfully they're full price. I'm holding off...

4. Metallic Havaianas, $30
Duh, flip flops are a summer staple. Havaianas are the comfiest. And these are a little spruced up.

5. Angels by VS Supersoft Hiphuggers and Thongs, 3 for $30
These are the softest, stretchiest, most comfy undies this tush has ever felt. Adore. I can't help but always buy new underwear. And ladies (and gentlemen I guess), always google Victoria's Secret Coupon Codes before buying. You will save much moola.

6. Assorted Headbands from Anthropologie, $24-$38

Since it seems I'll be rockin the short hair for a bit longer, I think some headbands are in order. Anthropologie carries some of the cutest ones I've seen. The pricing seems a bit silly, and methinks I can start making them myself (do I sense a business opportunity?).

7. Profiterole Blouse by Anthropologie, $128
This top just looks like a good time to me. And I think it's a little fair to the midsection, which is perfect for that mid-summer snacking one tends to do. Again, not likely to be paying full price on this one.

8. Free People Galinas Jersey Tank, $98
I lurve the bright poppy prints Free People uses. I think I'm 1/4 hippie.

9. Guess Nyla Dress, $98
I live in dresses during the summer. This cotton maxi dress can be so versatile- it can go from a day at the beach to a nice dinner out.

10. C&C California Tanks, $42
The best. I am a layering whore. But again, a cheap one, as I wait to buy these when they are on sale.

I will surely keep you updated with more items that I covet, but at the moment, my 10 summer staples will have to suffice. It is notable that I have not included swimwear. I'm just not *in that place* yet.

Hairrrrrr

So I had my consultation today for hair extensions. Majorly bummed. Because my hair is curly, I would need to grow my hair out another inch to get the wavy extensions (I don't want super curly extensions). And since it's so short I would need 5 ounces of hair, which will run the tab up to $2000. That's with my cancer discount (isn't that nice?). They would last about 6 months, at which point I would need to shell out another two g's.

On the one hand, that is a ton of money that I just don't have lying around. On the other hand, I absolutely hate the way I look. Hubbs says that I should go for it, since they will make me happy and feel great about how I look.

It just stinks that I dealt with the nausea, and the scars, and the needle sticks. That passed by a long time ago. But the hair is taking forever and a half. It's a constant reminder that I'm not like everyone else, I'm not normal. People think I'm nuts to be considering dropping this much cash on something as trivial as hair. I just think I'm a sad girl who misses feeling pretty.

Site Rave

I just have to rave about this web site, thedailyplate.com. It keeps track of everything you eat and charts your calories. Let's say you ate a Big Mac. You just type in Big Mac and then click on it and tell it when you ate this (lunch, dinner, snack...). It has ALL the nutritional info of tons of food. Even frozen foods. You can see what percentage of your total daily value of sodium, cholesterol, etc. you've eaten so far each day. It's genius. You can even tell it the rate you want to lose, maintain, or gain weight (1 lb. a week, 1.5 lbs a week...). It then tells you how many calories you should be inhaling daily.
I have lost 6 pounds so far! No doubt water weight, but eating veggie, coupled with no more soda is making this girl thin again in no time!

Memories...

I am using hubby's old CPU and I was looking through old pictures and I came across this one of us...
It was taken on campus a month or two after we started dating. It just reminds me of how young we were, how carefree, how tan! I love looking through old pics, don't you?

Mr. Lexi is cookin!

And it ain't pretty. He's prepared some sort of stew for himself and left it in the crock pot for the day. I get to sit at home and revel in the pungent aroma of the crap he put in there. Peeeeeeew!

25

My 25th anniversary of life's coming up soon... March 10th. Last year March was an incredibly ugly month for me. This year I want a do-over. I'm partying for 24 AND 25 and the next 80 years to come! I want to go to Disneyland too :-)

I've been doing the vegetarian thing for the last week. I used to be a vegetarian back in college for a couple years, and then I got drunk one night at a sorority event and ate chicken. And it was good. So I reverted to my meat-eating ways. Anyhow, my mom got me this book called Skinny Bitch. I haven't finished it, but it's basically a swift kick to the ass about your eating habits, etc. in order to slim down. I've been trying to shed a few so I decided to read it. And the chapter about meat did me in. I don't want to preach or anything, but reading about the way animals are killed in slaughterhouses, the conditions they are kept in, and the toxins that are pumped into them was enough to convert me back to my veggie ways. Pff, I wanted to go vegan even! But did you know that dairy is in like everything? Too difficult. I am trying to cut back though. I even had this bitchin cheeseless pizza with caramelized onions, red peppers and mushrooms.

Sad thing is that one of the things I was really looking forward to for my birthday was going to Wokcano for dinner with the whole fam, since I love(d) their orange chicken and chicken lo mein and spicy garlic chicken and chicken dumplings (I was never really into the red meat). But when I reassure myself that so what, I can eat chicken if I want to, I realize I don't want to. And the pounds are starting to come off. Tonight hubby and I are going to hit up the market to get some more foods for the week. Skinny bitch, here I come!

P.S. Can you tell that I'm really into including links in my posts now?

Dirty Rotten Avocados...

In the trunk of my car! Grrr hubby left them there weeks ago and they slowly permeated my car with their pungent stench. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was; First I assumed the smell was me. I made sure to wash. Then, I presumed it was the bags of McDonalds takeout that sat in the front passenger seat for a week. (I'm sure these contributed to the smell in some way)Today, after the hubbs finally takes a ride in the car with me, he decides to investigate. We clean out my car and discover the nasty culprits. Ugh! And they ruined one of my favorite sweaters! Well, not really a favorite. I hadn't worn it in months. And I never liked it much when I did wear it. The one time. But still, I say DH owes me another one! We took the car to a DIY carwash and vacuumed the sucker. Now she's a beaut! That's what I call a productive day!

Yesterday was pretty awesome too. We went to the Grove and ate Singapore/Indian food at the Farmer's Market. It was so good! We had the Mee Goreng and the Vegetarian Curry with rice. After walking around briefly (I say briefly because Mr. Lexi refuses to peruse stores for an acceptable length of time to my liking) we went home and grabbed the bean and took him to the park! He loved running around in the grass. And I am fairly certain that a tree crapped on me. I swear. There weren't any suspicious looking birds or squirrels around, but something vile-smelling and green landed on my arm. Eww.

In the evening we finally went to see Slumdog Millionaire. We both loved it. I hope it wins the Oscar. We'll be watching tonight with the family (I especially love to see what everyone is wearing!). All in all, a great weekend!
